We are living with our family in South Florida and we are waiting the arrival of Dorian.

- Hurricane Dorian is an active tropical cyclone currently threatening the Bahamas and the Southeastern United States.
- The fourth named storm and second hurricane of the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season, Dorian developed from a tropical wave in the Central Atlantic.
- Dorian was a small storm early on, but began to strengthen and grow after entering a more favorable environment. Dorian became a hurricane in the afternoon of August 28th.
- Though the hurricane center was still forecasting that Dorian would stay just off the U.S. coast as it makes its way up the seaboard, evacuations were ordered for parts of Florida and, later on Monday, the Georgia and South Carolina coasts.
We protected our house and we are ready.

It is better to be safe than sorry.

Let me provide some context regarding Hurricanes.
- Tropical cyclones have done the most monetary damage compared to other natural disasters in the U.S.
- Since 1980, according to a study by NOAA. Over nearly 40 years, cyclones have caused about $920 billion in damage.

- Hurricanes can cause a staggering amount of human losses as well as economic hardship for those affected
- Statista published an interesting and scary infographic showing that the total monetary losses habitually exceed insured losses.
- Of the estimated US$125 billion in total damages caused by Hurricane Katrina, the worst storm on the insurer’s list, in 2005 just more than $60 billion were insured losses.
- This ratio is even worse for Hurricane Harvey, which devastated parts of the U.S., the Caribbean and Central America in 2017. In that case, only a third, US$30 billion out of US$95 billion, was insured.
