As previously mentioned, I am excited to share excerpts from my upcoming book. I’m writing a book that deep-dives into the world of go-to-market (GTM) strategy. It blends personal experiences and passions that have shaped my career. I will also explore how AI is impacting all of us in sales, marketing, and sales enablement. AI influences operation and finance, from insights to planning. It affects pitching and execution. This book will give you a new and fresh perspective on building strong GTM plans. It leverages a consumer and partner-centric approach. It also asks the right questions to create real differentiation and impactful storytelling. You will find below a new excerpt focusing on the structure and what you can expect. Feel free to share your thoughts on this and open a conversation with me for collaboration. My calendar shared below is fully opened for this purpose.
Please find the excerpt below.
We have reached the pinnacle of our GTM journey. I’m thrilled to share with you the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence in our field. This chapter is close to my heart. It combines my lifelong passion for data and insights. It also leverages cutting-edge technology that’s reshaping our industry.
Remember when I told you about my fascination with data at the European Commission’s office as a 12-year-old? Well, AI is like that curiosity on steroids. It’s taking our ability to analyze and interpret data to heights I can only dream of back then.
Jessica Apotheker illustrated this powerfully in her TED Talk. AI has the potential to supercharge our efforts. It could boost marketing productivity by up to 50%.
AI: The Game-Changer in GTM
Let me walk you through how AI is revolutionizing our GTM approaches:
Data-Driven Insights at Scale:
AI can now analyze vast datasets effectively. This capability makes my early attempts at pattern recognition look like child’s play. It’s uncovering insights that even the most experienced human analysts might miss, leading to more targeted and effective strategies. I spent time looking at those car price lists at the Renault dealership in Belgium. My father worked there. I could only dream. I dreamed of the analytical power AI brings to market research today.

Hyper-Personalization:
Remember the focus groups I conducted for Bertolli when I was at Unilever, leading this brand? AI takes that personalization to an entirely new level. As Jessica mentioned, our approach can now be tailored to individual customers. This is possible at a scale that was unimaginable when I started my career. We can move beyond simply knowing broad demographic trends to truly understanding individual preferences and behaviors.
AI-Powered Sales Processes:
AI is streamlining sales tasks. These improvements would have made my father’s job at the Renault dealership so much easier. AI handles lead scoring. It also automates follow-ups. Our sales teams can focus on what really matters – building relationships and closing deals.
The Human Touch in an AI World
Now, don’t get me wrong. While AI brings incredible capabilities, it doesn’t replace the human element. In fact, it makes our creativity and strategic thinking even more crucial. As Apotheker argues, the human touch becomes more valuable than ever. Here’s how we need to adapt:
- Foster Innovation: Encourage your team to think big and experiment. AI can crunch numbers, but it can’t replace human creativity. Jessica talks about building the “left-AI brain” and “right-brain talent.” Well, this is how we build that “right-brain talent” – by empowering our teams to be innovative. It allows those who are creative to enhance this strategic mindset.
- Build Authentic Relationships: In an AI-driven world, genuine human connections become even more valuable. This reminds me of the lessons I learned in the dojo – respect and authenticity are key. We need to remember that technology serves people, not the other way around. This counterbalances Apotheker’s concern of a world of generic content. It’s about asking the right questions as Simon Sinek would mention.
- Embrace Ethical Considerations: As we leverage AI, we must ensure our practices are transparent and respect customer privacy. It’s about building trust, just like in any relationship. This ensures we create impactful stories, in line with MOJO’s and the Challenger Sale principles.
Practical AI Implementation in GTM
Let me share some actionable insights on integrating AI into your GTM toolkit. Now, you can see how the Belt System I have created comes into play. AI can be plugged in to gain efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
- Use AI-powered market research tools to uncover trends and customer needs
- Implement personalization platforms for tailored customer experiences
- Leverage predictive analytics to optimize performance
- Explore generative AI for content creation and task automation, like the Pitch Deck Generator I created to streamline presentations.
- Use centralized tools to track performance that are key for your business in terms of efficiency, scalability and consistency
Looking Ahead: The Future of AI in GTM
As we wrap up, I’m excited about the future. AI is opening up possibilities in GTM that I could only dream of when I started my career. It’s not just about working faster or smarter. It’s about fundamentally reimagining our connection with customers. It’s about bringing value to the market.
But as Jessica cautions, we need to be mindful of the “great equalization of marketing.” We need to ensure that we use AI to enhance our unique brand identity, not erase it. I truly believe that as the digital and AI world progresses, those who master meaningful human contact will stand out. This ability will set them apart from the crowd.
Remember, success in this new AI-driven landscape isn’t just about implementing the latest tools. It’s about blending these cutting-edge technologies with timeless strategic principles and a deep understanding of human behavior. True differentiation lies in meticulously planned strategies. It comes with team orchestration and relentless focus on your customer and partner.
People who have the right mindset find success. They do this by adopting a growth attitude and embracing concepts like the Ikigai.
I can’t wait to see how you’ll use these insights to transform your own GTM strategies. Let’s embrace this AI revolution together and set new standards in our industry.
